Upstate Mediation Center Receives Prestigious 2024 Cotton Harness Peace Award
Greenville, SC – The Upstate Mediation Center (UMC) is honored to announce that it has been awarded the 2024 Cotton Harness Peace Award (Award) by the South Carolina Bar Dispute Resolution Council, making it the first ever organization to receive this award. Established to recognize distinguished and meritorious service in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), the Award honors those that demonstrate exemplary contributions to the fields of mediation, arbitration, and other forms of dispute resolution the Award acknowledges UMC’s distinguished leadership and meritorious service to the public and legal profession in ADR areas, as well as its commitment to the advancement of ADR through education, innovation, and scholarship.
This recognition highlights UMC’s 25 years of steadfast dedication to promoting peaceful conflict resolution services throughout the Upstate. These services empower individuals, families, and organizations to find collaborative solutions to contested matters thus maintaining personal and business relationships. The Award serves as a testament to the enduring impact of UMC’s work and its vital role in fostering peace and understanding across the region.
The South Carolina Bar’s Dispute Resolution Section Council will formally present the award to UMC at the House of Delegates meeting during the SC Bar Annual meeting on January 16, 2025.
