How long have you been on UMC’s Board of Directors?

This is my first year, but I served for many years in the early 2000s, some as President.

Why did you join UMC’s Board of Directors?

Love for the Mediation Centre and passion for being a peacemaker (mediator).

Which committee(s) do you currently serve on?

Volunteer Committee

What do you enjoy most about volunteering on the UMC Board of Directors?

Providing a venue so people can arrive at peaceful settlements; also visiting and working with Helen, Jennifer, and Andrea.

What is your current occupation?

Retired attorney from Wyche Law Firm; Currently Parish Minister at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

What do you enjoy most about mediation?

Mediating a path to peace for the adverse parties.

Who inspires you?

As a mediator, Rob Hassold and Jim Sarratt have always inspired me.

What is one thing – either mediation-related or not – you learned in the last month?

I learned that the Cleveland Indians were named in honor of one of their Native American players.  This was in 1915.

What is something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I collect stamps.

What is the last book you read?

Operation Pedestal, about the relief of Malta in World War II.  I learned much about that mission, too.

What is the first concert you ever attended?

Four Seasons concert in 1969 in Charleston, WV.

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My father’s beef stew.
